LVO were engaged to do a concept study of options for medium term mining accommodation in Clermont.
The client had a 2000 sq m site and wanted to explore the potential to develop 10 detached dwellings that could be used for medium term accommodation and then strata titled and sold individually. Rather than site the houses centrally on each lot, a decision was made to push the buildings to the southern lot line, allowing useable outdoor space to the north. Further, the building form was cranked to open up to the outdoor area, while closing down to the west for solar protection.
A combination of single storey single bed and two storey, two bed models were developed to cater for different occupant types. Readily available cost effective materials were utilised, while the form was developed to add interest to the site.
