Blackwater is a growing town near Rockhampton, QLD, predominantly serving the local mining community. The team at LVO were engaged to do a design and construction development for this site.

This motel development includes 60 sole-occupancy units and 5 serviced apartments, a managers unit, restaurant/bar, commercial laundry and other commercial tenancies with accompanying service and recreation facilities.

The motel units are designed to be transportable, and are delivered to site as individual flat-packed prefabricated bathroom and living modules, which are then assembled into two level duplex arrangements. This form of construction is sustainable through its efficient and economical processes, and the units have a modern and sophisticated appearance through the applied claddings, skillion roof form and balustrade detailing.

The Commercial building is also clad in lightweight materials with contemporary detailing to enhance the building form.

LVO has worked closely with the client to achieve the cost effective and contemporary design solution that he wanted.
