LVO Architecture

Thomas Street, Brisbane

LVO seeks to create houses that respond directly to climate, topography and client needs, within budget. The private residence at Auchenflower was a replacement for a single level typical post war home on a steeply sloping site with a family home that combines post-war simplicity with the comfort of modern living, split over 3 levels.

The LVO team delivered design and documentation expertise that provided exceptional outcomes to the client within the town planning limitations and restricted budget of the project.

The new layout offers spacious open-plan living that expands to terraces at both front and rear. With full height glazed doors offering sweeping views over the suburb of Auchenflower to the front and overlooking the pool to the rear, the outdoor areas become a practical, large extension of the main casual living spaces and allow the inhabitant to take full advantage of the Queensland lifestyle.

The design is a balance between poetry and practicality and brings a fresh but compatible look to the context of existing, pre-war and immediate post war houses in the street.
