LVO Architecture

Moore Street, Morningside

This contemporary styled public housing development was designed with a mix of brightly coloured modern materials, offset against brick veneer and areas of timber weatherboard. The style is noticeable, but not out of character with the more traditional residential housing surrounding the project.

The architectural design mixes traditional brick, broken by a strong horizontal bands of lightweight cladding from two-thirds the height of the building to the underside of the eaves. The bright lightweight cladding and steel sheet roof, sets the modern character to the building, while weatherboard elements reinforce both the strong horizontal band and reflect the style of the area.

The contemporary nature of the development is also reflected in areas of solid render on piers and walls to balcony areas. Dominant horizontal and vertical screens to rear balconies, upper level windows and balustrades all combine to create a unique modern feel.
